Surrender to God
II Corinthians 2:14 - All day we have with God demands. The Lord requires something from us and we resist. We are slow to obey, and hesitated before his will. We apologize, try to ignore and make us deaf. But all this is useless. God does not change what He wants from us! Therefore, surrender!
Some time ago we saw pictures on television of the U.S. Army yielding a group of rebels in Afghanistan. The rebels had to raise his hands and knees laying down their weapons. So should the church, kneeling with hands raised their weapons testifying before the Lord. Surrender is a military term. Yields only one who is at war. You can say, "But I'm not at war with God." If you are humble you will see how much has resisted the voice of the Spirit. The Lord tells him to pray, but it's so nice to see television. The Spirit asks you to visit this brother, but there are so many reasons not to offer our time ...
The paradox is that there's only victory in surrender. When we surrender to God cast down the devil. But he who resists God no longer has victory over evil.
Paul says, "But thanks be to God who in Christ always leads us in triumph" II Corinthians 2:14. Most plays just thinking that Christ leads us to victory. But the translation in the language of today is clear: "But I thank God that in union with Christ, we are always led by God as prisoners in the parade of victory of Christ."You understand now? The victory is Christ and we are the rebels were defeated and surrendered.
The Greek word translated as "leading in triumph" was a special word used in antiquity to describe a triumphal procession. During the Roman Empire when a general won a battle he captured many people. Then came the General in Rome and brought these prisoners captive in a triumphal procession as a celebration to make a display of the victory he had obtained.
The idea here is that we are these captives and Christ is the victorious general. There was one day when I was an enemy of Christ, but Christ triumphed over me.From that day on I became a captive of Christ.
We must admit that often resist God and this is the same as not to give into him. If we want a life in the spirit we need to be subdued and defeated by the Lord in our will and stubbornness. If we surrender to the Lord, then we beat the evil.
Ezekiel 47:1-5 - No one can walk without a move of God in surrender. Can you be in the river and walk upstream. Everything depends on what part of the river you are. The river of God is going in one direction and you want to go to another. Then he starts to swim in the opposite direction, to hold the edges. You do not want to go! If you are someone shallow, superficial in God, you can easily go over the river of God. After the river is there in the knee, you can go against him, but if you are someone who has been driven by God, the river will take you to deeper places and there will be a moment you can look up and say: " I did not want! But what to do? There is no way to resist, the current is so strong that it takes me. This surrendered.
Depending on the depth and extent of what you have experienced in God is no more as you get away from God's purpose. You will want to or not.
Today I invite you to make a decision. To surrender unreservedly to the Lord. Lay down your weapons, give up his pride, his arrogance, his selfishness, his human capacity. Abandon your sorrows, your grudges and resentments. Leave your feelings of self-preservation, self-pity, self-sufficiency. Abandon your inability to care for others, with the needy. Lay down your weapons and start to have passion for the lives that go to hell.
Come deeper into the river of God is stronger with God, let the Lord lead you according to His will.
